BAMYAN CITY (SW): Bamyan on Tuesday hosted the 9th Silk Road Festival in a bid to attract more and more tourists to the historic and natural attractions in this province.
Ahmad Hussain Ahmadpur, interim director for information and culture, said on the occasion that the handicraft and historical attractions of the province have lovers around the world, but still there is a need to organize more such programs to further promote the province.
Mohammad Taher Zaheer, governor of the province, said on the occasion that the province has its uniqueness acknowledged worldwide. He underlined the importance of the Silk Road, and said such festivals highlight its worth for the region. Zaheer also shed light on the reputed heritage of Bamyan.
Visitors were entertained with the live traditional music, handicraft and paintings. On the second and last day of the festival tomorrow, bicycle racing and archery competition would also be held.
