KABUL (SW): A number of residents in central Bamyan province on Thursday charged the governor for spreading ethnic hatred in the province.
During a protest demonstration in Kabul, representatives of the Justice for Pashtunes and Tajiks (JPT) civil society organization noted that the governor Tahir Zuhair is acting with discrimination towards the ethnic Pashtones and Tajiks in the province. They called for the removal of Tahir Zuhair.
Muhaiudin Farahmand, a representative of the JPT said that the governor is not including them in the UNESCO-sponsored master plan for Bamyan. The protestors charged that the governor has encroached upon their lands.
Rejecting the allegations, the governor however, claimed that these protestors are hindering the implementation of the master plan. He told Salam Watandar that the master plan is not aimed at encroaching upon people’s land and therefore the people should cooperate with the local administration.
