
KABUL (SW): Members of the ethnic Baloch community urged the government on Wednesday to help preserve and promote their language in the country.
The Ministry of Tribal and Border Affairs (MoTBA) organized the ‘Baloch Culture Day’. Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Sattar Pardili, a leader of the Baloch community, said the country is going through a phase of re-construction and development, but the Baloch community remains deprived. He lamented that the Baloch children are not taught in their mother tongue in schools.
Abdul Ghafor Lewal, interim Minister for Tribal and Border Affairs, told the gathering the Baloch community has a key role to play in the country’s political and cultural affairs. He particularly lauded the role played by the Baloch community in securing the Helmand River. Lewal also underlined the need to preserve and promote all local languages and cultures in Afghanistan.
