MAZAR-E-SHARIF (SW) – All is set for a maiden air trade corridor linking Mazar-e-Sharif with European markets.
Sameer Rasa, spokesman for the office of presidential advisor on financial and banking affairs, told a presser here on Monday Afghanistan is currently exporting fresh and dried fruits as well as other items to 22 European, 50 Arab and Asian countries, and efforts are underway to further promote exports.
He said a new air corridor would be established via Mazar-e-Sharif in coming two days, and the first consignment in this connection would see up to five tons of dried fruits exported to Europe. Resa said this would be followed by a similar air corridor in Herat province.
This comes as exports have surged by over one hundred million dollars thanks to the similar air corridors established via Kabul with Asian, Arab and European countries.
