PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): A member of Baghlan provincial council has filed for asylum in Europe and another one is planning to follow suit.
A well-placed source told Salam Watandar the said member has been absent from the council for the past many months. Asadullah Shahbaz, chief of the provincial council, told Salam Watandar the accused female member Noor Zia has been absent for a while, but refrained from commenting about her asylum application. Mohammad Hanif, secretary of the house, informed that the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) has been informed about Noor Zia’s four-month absence, but no action has been taken so far about her termination. He added, as per the rules, another member should be elected in her place.
Saeed Ahmad, chief of provincial councils at the IDGL, said he was informed about the situation three months ago by Baghlan civil society members, but the provincial council has officially complaint only few days back. He added, as per rules any member found guilty of not attending the session for a minimum of 20 consecutive days without any reasonable excuse shall be replaced with a new elected member.
Meanwhile, Najia Aimaq, sister of Noor Zia has discarded the allegations levelled against her sister. She claimed her sister is in India for medical treatment.
