PUL-E-KHUMRI (SW): The provincial government in Baghlan province has opposed the proposed move to shift two military bases from central Baghlan.

A leaked security document noted that the provincial military council has proposed to move the two military bases from central Baghlan to other restive parts of the province.

Abdul Sattar Barez, the provincial governor, told a press conference in the province on Saturday that such move is not acceptable. He went on to say that the proposed move does not go well with the current security situation in the province. Barez vowed a comprehensive strategy for security in the province would be chalked.

Bismillah Batash, a member of the provincial council, has also casted doubts over the propose move about shifting two military bases away from central Baghlan.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Radmanesh, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD), told Salam Watandar there are no plans under consideration to move the two military bases from central Baghlan. He stressed different plans to eliminate armed militants from the province are in sight.
