BADAKHSHAN (SW): The installations for storing strategic reserves of up to 500 tons of gas and oil in Badakhshan have been made operational.
Mohammad Kazim Ahmadi, Deputy Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, said that the process of transferring gas to the strategic storages of Badakhshan has begun, and 126 tons of gas have already been transferred so far. According to Mr. Ahmadi, after Kabul, Badakshan is the second province in which liquid gas storage facilities have been built. He said by utilizing these storage facilities, the cost of liquid gas in the market will be reduced.
Fawad Akbarzada, head of Badakshan's petroleum products' department, said that these facilities will provide access to cheaper gas in different parts of Faizabad and other districts of the province. The residents of Faizabad while welcoming the establishment of gas and oil distribution centers in the city, said such centers will prevent the prices of gas from rising.
Currently, each kilogram of liquid gas in the city of Faizabad is sold for 70 AFN, and as the weather gets colder, prices are likely to surge.
