Azarbaijan to help Afghanistan improve public services

KABUL (SW): Afghanistan and Azerbaijan inked a deal on Tuesday for setting-up “Aasan Khidmat” (easy services) center in a bid to improve public services to the masses.

These centers would serve as ‘one window’ for obtaining identity cards, passports, driving licenses and other corresponding certificates. The deal was signed by Eklil Hakimi, Minister for Finance and Inam Karimove, Head of State Agency for Services to Citizens & Social Innovations in Azerbaijan. According to the agreement, Azerbaijan would provide technical assistance to the Afghan officials for the new center.

Hakimi said on the occasion that initial ten different departments would take advantage of this new center. He expressed optimism that this center would streamline and expedite the processing of public services. “The assistance that Azerbaijan has pledged to offer are worth millions of dollars”, he said. The minister also expressed hope that the move would help curb corruption.

This new innovation would help the citizen resolve their matters related to the ministries of interior, trade, finance, labor, social affairs and martyrs via this one window. The officials said on the occasion that Azerbaijan has a good reputation in providing public services to its citizens that is why it has been approached to help establish the “Aasan Khidmat” center.
