KABUL (SW): A number of attackers targeted a mosque in police district (PD) 11 of Kabul, on Friday afternoon.
Ismail Kawosi, the spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health, said more than 20 people were killed and more than 35 were injured.
Local residents said that the Imam Zaman mosque was attacked around 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
According to them, the attackers first shot dead the guards of the mosque, and then entered the mosque. Eye witnesses said that several injured, including women and children, were taken to the hospital.
Najib Danish, the spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, said at least 3 insurgents attacked the mosque. According to him, 14 people died while 38 more were injured.
According to him, an explosion occurred at the entrance gate of the mosque. He assured that security forces have reached the scene of the attack.
Daesh has taken responsibility for the attack.
