Atmar attends regional security summit in Russia

KABUL (SW): Mohammad Hanif Atmar, the National Security Advisor, left Kabul for Moscow on Wednesday to attend the seventh annual session of senior security officials in the Russian Federation.

Tawab Ghorzang, spokesman for the National Security Council, told Salam Watandar that the session hosted by Nikolay Petroshov, Russian National Security Advisor, is held in Grozny, the capital city of Chechenya. The session is aimed at countering terrorism and extremism.

Ghorzang said that Mohammad Hanif Atmar emphasized on cooperation of the regional countries and urge upon them to help Afghanistan eliminate terrorism.

Ghorzang added that the national security advisor also asked for continued and sustainable military support from the regional countries for the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces.

Atmar has dubbed the continued international efforts in curbing terrorism as vital. He said that such sessions are necessary for putting an end to the international terrorism and fighting.

Ghorzang said that Atmar, on the sideline of the session, met with senior security officials from China, Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan and emphasized on bilateral and multi-lateral  cooperation as well as economic and trade ties.

He also elaborated the prospects of the mega economic projects like TAPI, CASA-1000 and Chabahar Port for the region.
