KHOST CITY (SW): A car bombing in Khost province has claimed at least 18 lives on the first day of holy month of Ramadan in the country.
Najib Danish, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Interior (MoI), has stated in a tweet that 18 people have died, and 6 including two children are wounded. Mohammadeen Mohammadi, head of the public health department in the province, told Salam Watandar at least one injured civilian is in critical state.
In his message on the occasion of Ramadan, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani urged upon the Taliban to respect the sanctity of the month, and shun violence. In clear defiance to it, and the United Nation’s Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA)’s call for ceasefire in this holy month, the Taliban announced on Friday they would intensify their attacks this month.
The Taliban have claimed responsibility for Khost bombing.
