MAIDAN CITY (SW): Unknown armed men have abducted six civilians from Jalrez district in the central Maidan Wardak province, officials said on Monday.
Naqeebullah Haideri, the district chief in Jalrez told Salam Watandar that all the abducted men are civilian. He noted that the abduction took place last evening in the Takani area of the district. Haidari further said that the men were rounded-up from their homes, and have been taken away to undisclosed location.
The security forces and local elders are busy in ensuring the safe release of the men, he said. No one has claimed responsibility for the abduction and the reasons behind it remains unknown.
The locals however, blame local armed militia for similar abductions and extortions in the province. Last week, three passengers were taken away by unknown armed men, and their whereabouts still remain unknown.
