KUNDUZ (SW): Security officials in the northern province of Kunduz state that Afghan National Security Forces have reopened Kunduz-Takhar highway.
Ahmed Jaweed Niyazi, the spokesperson for Afghan National Civil Order Police (ANCOP) told Salam Watandar that in a joint operation with Afghan Security Forces, the ANCOP carried out an operation on Thursday to reopen the Kunduz-Takhar highway.
Niyazi noted that Afghan National Security Forces have sustained heavy causalities on the insurgents. But there is not exact number of the causalities, he added.
The spokesperson for Afghan National Civil Order Police noted that Afghan National Security Forces had no casualties in this operation. He further said that reconstruction on highway is underway.
Following the fall of Kunduz to the Taliban, the Kunduz-Takhar highway was blocked by the insurgents. Internally Displaced Person (IDP)s from Kunduz used to travel through Ali Abad district to Takhar and Badakhshan provinces.
