TALEQAN(SW): Security officials have said that a group of Afghan National Army (ANA) men supported by at least 40 tanks has arrived in Takhar to eliminate the militants. The group is set to launch a mop-up operation in the province. The operation will be led by Gen. Jan Khan Pasban, Director Policy at the Ministry of Defense.
The officials further said that the ANA group has reached to the capital city Taliqan after killing 30 militants including notorious commander Sayed Ali in Baghlan. These soldiers are under the command of Gen.Shaour Gul.
Gen. Gul said that his men would soon launch full scale operations in Eshkamish, Khaja Ghar, Yangi Qala and Darqad districts in Takhar.
He further said that once they have cleared the related areas, they would also conduct offensives in Dasht-e-Archi district in Kunduz.
Dasht-e-Archi is considered as one of the most vital terrorist bases in the northern Afghanistan.
