SHEBERGHAN (SW): Local authorities in Jawzjan province have told Salam Watandar the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) have retaken control of the Kham Aab district.
Rahmatullah Turkistani, police chief for the province, informed that the ANDSF have killed 8 Taliban militants and injured 4 others in ground and air offensives. He added that a number of outposts of the Afghan Border Police (ABP) and local anti-Taliban militia, the district police headquarters along with a number of villages have been cleared.
A day earlier, the Taliban militants managed to overrun Kham Aab district at around 5:00 am. The provincial government, however, discarded reports about fall of the district. Mohammad Raza Ghafoori, the spokesman for the provincial governor, said only three villages and some outposts of the local uprising force had fallen to the militants.
