KABUL (SW): Analysts believe the growing interest of Turkmenistan in mega economic projects in Afghanistan is a good omen for the war-torn country.
Earlier this week, the Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow in a meeting with the Afghan Ambassador Mirwais Nab, reaffirmed Ashgabat’s interest in cooperation with Afghanistan.
Azarakhs Hafizi, an economic affairs’ analyst, told Salam Watandar that Turkmenistan has always an impartial friend of Afghanistan. He noted that this Central Asian neighbor has a significant importance in regard to economic uplift in Afghanistan. He expressed optimism that the brotherly ties between the two nations would continue.
In his views, the Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India (TAPI) gas pipeline project together with a number of other energy deals would bring fundamental reforms and prosperity in Afghanistan. Hafizi said Pakistan also has its interests associated with the TAPI that would ultimately convert in cooperation for peace in Afghanistan.
Shakib Mustaghni, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed that the Ashgabat government has renewed its commitment for mega economic projects in Afghanistan. He told Salam Watandar that the Afghan Ambassador Mirwais Nab recently presented his credentials to the Turkmen President.
In this meeting, according to Mustaghani, a number of matters related to mutual interests were discussed.
