Analysts blame weak security organs for spate of attacks in Kabul

02/08/2016

KABUL (SW): Analysts believe lack of coordination and compliance with responsibilities by the different security organs have led to back to back terrorist attacks in the capital Kabul.

Commenting on the spate of deadly terrorist attacks in Kabul, Gen. Zalmay Wardark, an expert on security issues told Salam Watandar that the security organs severely lack professionalism.

He noted that the rule of law has not been respected and the system of justice has not been applied to all. This he said has led to a security vacuum allowing the militants to hit their targets with ease. “Trucks loaded with explosives are brought to the center of the city, this is not possible without an inside job”, he said, adding that as long as corruption remains in the security organs such attacks would keep on claiming more and more lives.

Gen. Khudadad Hazara, another expert on strategic affairs said in his remarks that there is no doubt in believing that some elements from within the capital city are collaborating with the rebels. “Our security and intelligence organs are weak and seems to have no knowledge about the plans of the enemy”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) is of the opinion that Kabul has a huge population, which is difficult to scan and protect. Siddiq Siddqui, spokesman for the MoI told Salam Watandar that the enemy is on a revenge spree after witnessing losses across the country and that is they why attack civilians in Kabul.

He strongly rejected the claims about terrorists getting support from within the security organs.
