Amiri recalled for friendly encounter with Tajikistan

KABUL (SW): The Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) has announced a 26-member initial squad for the forth coming friendly encounter against Tajikistan.

The AFF has finally recalled Islamuddin Amiri, the former captain who left the national team while protesting against including Non-Resident Afghans (NRAs) in the nation squad. Amiri and four other national players protested against this in the year 2014, and ever since are out of sight on the national level. In his captaincy, Afghanistan lifted the title of South Asian Championship in the year 2013.

Among other players recalled are Mustafa Azadzoy, who has been out of action for a while now. The AFF has named Owais Azizi, Hameedullah Wakili and Emal Gariwal as goalkeepers in the proposed squad. Hassan Amin, Mohammad Hashimi, , Ruhullah Iqbalzada, Mujib Jamali, Maseh Seghani, Anosh Dastgeer, Abdul Manan, and Islamuddin Amiri has been named as defenders while Faisal Shaista, Zubair Amiri, Noorullah Amiri, Melad Salim, Aarash Hatifi, Abbasin Alikhail, Noor Zadran, Mustafadi, Azadzoy, Qismat Ahmadi, Fardeen Hakimi, Amruddin Sharifi, Faiz Mohammad, Idris Hoshmand, Kanishka Tahir, Mohammad Sabir and Sailab Ghafoori have been named for mid-field and forward line.

Among those dropped from the squad over fitness and other reasons include Mustafa Zazai, Khyber Amani and Yousuf Sherdil. The friendly match between Afghanistan and Tajikistan would be played on Sunday 13 November, and would be telecast live on various sports channels at 3 pm in the afternoon.

Members of the Afghan squad, including the NRAs are likely to reach Dushanbe by Wednesday.
