KABUL (SW): An international symposium was held in ARG (Presidential Palace) to mark Amir Ali Shir Navai’s 575th birth anniversary here in Kabul.
A number of writers and intellectuals from Turkey, India, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Pakistan also attended the symposium.
Speaking on the occasion, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said that Amir Ali Shir Navai was one of the great writers of the Turkish and Uzbek languages who played a good role in expanding Naqshbandi Tariqat (order).
The First Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum, who was also speaking at the symposium, said that Ali Shir Navai belonged to all tribes in Afghanistan.
The symposium will continue for four days and the last day will be held in Herat.
Ali Shir Navai served as a public administrative and advisor to Sultan Hussain Bayqrah.
He was born 1441 in Herat and died in 1501.
