KABUL (SW) – Afghanistan passes through critical times these days as ambiguities surround setting priority between the elections and peace process.
Addressing an election rally in Kabul, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, a candidate for the presidential elections, said his team has a clear stance in this regard. He vowed to give priority to the peace process.
Meanwhile, Amrullah Saleh, vice president candidate for the election team of Ashraf Ghani, incumbent president, said in his rally in Kapisa on Wednesday that election remains top priority for them. He added peace also remains a priority, but not at the price of elections, democracy and the national army.
Another presidential candidate, Sheda Mohammad Abdali, said in his maiden election rally in Kabul that the elections and peace process have been sacrificed for personal gains and goals for individuals in the country and abroad.
As per the schedule, the presidential elections are set to take place on Sep. 28 later this year.
