All set for yet another “Shpageeza” in Kabul

KABUL (SW): The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Tuesday unveiled two more squads for the forthcoming Shpageeza (Super 6s) Cricket League.

Captain of the national squad Asghar Stanikzai would head the Kabul Eagles and all-rounder Mohammad Nabi would be leading the Band-e-Amir Dragons. A statement by the ACB has noted that Abdullah Mazari has switched from Amu Zone to the Band-i-Amir and Nawaz Khan has moved from Mess Aynak to Band-I-Amir team.

Mohammad Nabi would be joined by Imran Janat, Abdullah Adil, Noorul Haq, Hazratullah Zazai, Dawlat Khan, Hashmatullah Shaheedi, Inamullah , Javed Safi, Nusrat Qureshi, Nawed Obaid, Nawaz Khan, Qais Ahmad, Rehmat Sahat, Mohammad Sardar and Ibrahim Zadran. The Kabul Eagles would have the flamboyant national star Shahzad Mohammadi joining the captain Asghar Stanikzai, Rashid Khan, Fareed Malik, Amir Hamza, Abdullah Mazari, Darwesh Rasuli, Abdul Rasheed, Najib Tarakai, Naveenul Haq, Ibrahim, Kreen Janat, Mohammad Zahid, Shamshur Rehman, Shaukat Zaman and Abdul Naif.

Earlier this week, the ACB announced squads for the Mess Aynak Knights led by former national captain Nawroz Mangal and Amu Sharks under the leadership of all-rounder Mirwais Ashraf. The “Shpageeza” would feature most of the national cricket stars and emerging talent compete for this year’s title. Two more sides are yet to be announced. All-rounder Najibullah Zadarn has been named captain for the Bost Defenders and passer Hammed Hassan would lead the defending champion Spinghar Lions.  

The tournament would kick-off on August 09 at the Kabul-Alakozay International Cricket Stadium. Matches would be telecast live by the local television and radio stations.
