KABUL (SW): All is set for an exciting final for the 5th Afghan Premier League between the De Maiwand Atalan F.C. (Maiwand Champions) and the Shaheen Asmayee F.C. (Falcon of Asmayee) on Friday.
On Wednesday, coaches of the two finalist announced their teams’ full readiness for the mega event. Waheedullah Wahidi, coach for the Maiwand Atalan said on the occasion that they have pinpointed their shortcomings, and are confident to lift the trophy. He expressed profound joy and excitement to have made it to the APL finals for the first time. They would take on the mighty Shaheen Asmayee, the two times’ champion.
Mujtaba Faiz, the former national player and now coach of the Shaheen Asmayee, said his players are ready to lift the trophy for the record third time. He noted that the Shaheen Asmayee would enter the final with the 4-4-2 formation.
On its part, Yousuf Kargar, technical head at the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) said that all is set to organize the final in a best way. The sponsor Roshan Telecommunication thanked the organizers for their efforts in ensuring the successful event, and vowed to support it in the future as well.
Besides the final on Friday, the Simorgh Alborz F.C. (Alborz Phoenix) and Mawjhai Amu F.C. (Amu Waves) would compete for the third slot on Thursday. A total of eight teams took part in this year’s event. Defending champion De Spin Ghar Bazan F.C. (Spin Ghar Goshawk) could not make it to the second stage.
