LASHKARGAH (SW): As a result of an airstrike by the international forces at least 8 Afghan Border Police (ABP) men are killed and 16 are injured in Helmand province, a well-placed source has said.
On condition of anonymity, the source told Salam Watandar that the incident took place in Naad Ali district of the province on Friday before noon. According to the source, the Afghan National Police (ANP) and ABP have joint outposts in the district where the strike occurred. The source added the airstrike by the allied forces also killed at least 15 Taliban insurgents.
Omar Zwak, provincial governor’s spokesman has confirmed the incident, however, he could not provide details. “On Friday night, the border police were fighting against the Taliban. As a result, 2 ABP men were killed while 15 insurgents were killed in the fight as well”, informed Zwak.
The NATO-led Resolute Support Mission (RSM) has not commented on the incident to media yet.
