KABUL (SW) The former presidential aide Ahmad Zia Massoud has questioned the National Unity Government (NUG)’s legitimacy as he vehemently criticized President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Friday.
Addressing a ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of the victory of the Mujahedeen, Massoud said the NUG has lost its legitimacy. He vehemently criticized the government, and deemed it destructive for the people. The former presidential aide particularly criticized President Ghan, and his policies.
After being dismissed from his post last week, Massoud announced his resignation today.
Meanwhile, Shah Hussain Murtazawi, spokesman for the president, told Salam Watandar every Afghan has the right to express views, but the president has been elected by the people for a defined period in line with the Constitution.
In Afghanistan, the 7th and 8th dates of the second lunar month are quite significant with one marking the communist revolution and the other victory of the Mujahedeen. Many Afghans who lost their loved ones during these events, however, remember these days as beginning of the worst to come.
