KABUL (SW): Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the Afghan President, opened the second agriculture crops exhibition of the Afghan rural women on Wednesday here in Badam Bagh, Kabul.
Out of the total 232 exhibitive booths, 88 were managed by the Afghan female farmers in this 3 day agricultural exhibition.
While inaugurating the exhibition, the Afghan President stated that rural are playing vital role in the country’s development process. He praised the rural working women, saying that every single step they take today assures a bright future for the country.
The Afghan President noted that Afghanistan’s agricultural crops are of the high quality, but absence of market and lack international consumers are the main reason behind its slow motion in progress.
Ghani stated that while the country is struggling with a large ratio of poverty, urban women efforts for bring change is appreciable.
The Afghan President furthermore stated that though Afghanistan has been provided with billions of dollars fund, the Afghan government has been able to invest the least for rural women. He noted that the government has invested 3-6 thousand afghanis for women in the rural areas of the country.
Afghan President promised that he would promote rural female support program in 34 provinces of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Asadullah Zamir, the minister for the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL), stated that to develop all the provinces equally, the government would begin developing programs in Ghor, Daikundi, Khost, Kandahar, Paktika, Ghazni, Kunar and Nooristan provinces.
