KABUL/ HERAT CITY (SW): The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has directed the law enforcement agencies to arrest the chief of Herat Provincial Council Kamran Alizai.

A well placed source at the provincial prosecutor general’s office told Salam Watandar that the name of the PC Chief has also been incorporated in the Exit Control List (ECL). As per the reports, Alizai broke into the Herat’s prosecutor general’s office and took away an engineer charged with corruption with him.

The convict, an engineer at the public welfare department, has been charged by the municipality with corruption worth $ 8000. Alizai’s men allegedly beat the staffers at the prosecutor general’s office and took the offender with them.

The provincial government has issued a statement pronouncing interference in the government affairs as an illegal act and contempt to the office of the prosecutor. It has underlined the need for justice in this regard.

Meanwhile, Kamran Alizai has rejected the allegations. The provincial council chief has maintained that the engineer kept in custody is clean. He has charged the prosecutors for nabbing ‘innocent’ people instead of the corrupt.
