‘AGO the most corruption public institution’

KABUL (SW) – The Integrity Watch Afghanistan has conducted its latest survey in the country in connection with the International Anti-Corruption Day.

Based on this survey, an overwhelming majority of the respondents declared the Attorney General Office as the most corrupt public entity. Sharing findings of the survey, Nasir Taimuri, head of justice unit at the IWA, said that more than 60 entities were evaluated in this study. He said the majority of respondents pronounced the AGO as the most corrupt followed by courts and the Ministry of Education.

The survey also indicated that up to 61 per cent of the respondents were content with the current situation of the country while as in the previous survey in 2016 around 52 per cent of the respondents expressed satisfaction.

Insecurity was marked as the top concern by the respondents in the IWA survey followed by corruption and joblessness. Based on the evaluation, the level of corruption has dropped from 47 per cent in 2016 to 33 in the fresh survey.

The International Anti-Corruption Day was also marked at the Arg (presidential palace) where President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said comprehensive reforms have been brought in the legal system, and the processing of cases has expedited in courts.
