KABUL (SW) – At least four officials at the Attorney General's Office have been arrested on charge of taking bribes.
The AGO on Sunday announced the arrest of its head for Lalpura district in Nangarhar province on charges of bribery worth some AFN 36,000. It said that the head of the primary prosecutor's office and the administrative director of the Shakardara district of Kabul province has been arrested on charges of bribery worth some $ 3,000.
The statement added that the two men were investigating a murder case and had demanded money from relatives of the victim.
The AGO office also said that another prosecutor from Nangarhar has been arrested on charges of taking bribe worth $ 2,000.
The statement said that since last year, the AGO has resolved some 38 internal cases of bribery and other crimes.
