KABUL (SW): The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has issued arrest warrants for nine of Vice President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum’s guards in connection with the Ischi case.

The AGO has said a number of letters were sent to the Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum to appear before the court in connection to the Ahmad Ischi case. The VP’s office did not reply promptly hence the AGO has issued arrest warrants of the accused persons in this case, Jamshed Rasooli, spokesman for the AGO told Salam Watandar.

“Previously, the letters issued by the AGO were not replied by the VP, the investigation committee in-charge of the case has now issued arrest warrants”, added Rasooli. Ahmad Ischi, former governor of Jawzjan province, has leveled charges of abduction and sexual assault against Dostum’s men, and has also accused the vice president of sodomizing him with a rifle. Gen. Dostum has denied the accusations. His office called them a baseless effort to defame the vice president, and said it would cooperate with a government investigation.
