KABUL (SW): Afghanistan’s Under – 19 National Cricket team has left for New Zealand to take part in the ICC U-19 World Cup in January next year.

Top management of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) bid farewell to the young boys under Captain Naveenul Haq and head coach Andy Moles. Speaking on the occasion, Moles said Afghanistan has a promising team, and if the boys play up to the mark they can achieve a lot at the mega event next year. He added the team would reach New Zealand three weeks ahead of the mega event to get used to the climate and conditions for cricket.

Atif Mashal, Chairman of the ACB, also praised the squad, and wished them very best. Captain Naveenul Haq vowed the boys are well-prepared to demonstrate the best of their abilities. He said the team is confident and under no pressure.

Afghanistan has been placed in Group D, and would play against Pakistan on January 13, against Sri Lanka on January 17 and against Ireland on January 20. West Indies is the defending champion of the ICC U-19 World Cup.
