Afghanistan to take on Singapore in friendly football match

KABUL (SW): The Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) has announced the national team would take on Singapore in a friendly encounter later this month.

According to the AFF, the two teams would face each other in Doha on the 23rd of March. Ali Askar, Manager of the national team, told Salam Watandar the Afghan players residing in the country and other parts of the world would depart for Doha on March 15. He added the main objective of this friendly match is to prepare the team for its upcoming international fixture with Vietnam.

As part of the qualifiers for the forthcoming 2019 Asian Football Championship, Afghanistan would play against Vietnam on March 28 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

Afghanistan has only won one of its five previous international games while Vietnam has won three of its five latest international encounters. In the latest FIFA Ranking, Afghanistan stands at the 156th Rank, Vietnam at the 136th Rank while Singapore at 163rd.
