KABUL (SW): With the completion of training camp in Dubai, Afghanistan is all set to take on Maldives for a friendly football match on Tuesday.
According to the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF), the match would be played at 20:30 Kabul time. The latest FIFA Ranking suggests Afghanistan is at 158th slot with 140 points to its credit. The opponent Maldives teams is ahead with 156 points on the 146th slot.
After this match, Afghanistan would play an international match against Cambodia as part of the 2019 Asian Football Championship qualifiers. This match would be played in Cambodia on June 13.
The AFF has named a 24-member squad under the captaincy of Faysal Shayesteh for both of these matches. The players include: Ovays Azizi, Hamidullah Wakili, Baktash Akbari, Hassan Amin, Milad Intezar, Hussain Alizada, Benjamin Nadjem, Modjieb Jamali, Sharif Muhammad, Kahishcka Taher, Faysal Shayesteh, Norollah Amiri, Fardin Hakimi, Amruddin Sharifi, Farshad Noor, Omid Popalzay, Abassin Alikhil, Zubayr Amiri, Khaibar Amani, Mustafa Zazai, Mustafa Azadzoy, Qays Shayesteh, Balal Arezo and Noor Zadran.
Among these players, Khyber Amani and Mustafa Azadzoy have been called back. Among previous encounters between Afghanistan and Maldives, the Afghans lost a match in 2009 with a clear margin of 1-9. Second time, Afghanistan lost again 1-3 in 2014. However, in a match in the year 2015, Afghanistan overcame Maldives with 4-1 goals.
