KABUL(SW): Afghanistan's fate about participating in the up-coming Asian T-20 Cricket Championship hangs in balance as the Asian Cricket Council(ACC) declined it a direct entry into this even.
The ACC decided in a meeting that the full member states India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka would directly enter the competition while one country would be given the chance to compete after a qualifying tournament.
Last year, Afghansitan won the freee entry for this event due to its good performance in the run-up to the 2015 One Day International ODI World Cup. This time, it is different. Afghanistan would play the host United Arab Emirates, Oman and Hong Kong in a qualifying tournament in the UAE.
This qualifying tournament would commence in Abu Dhabi on November 27.
Winner of this tournament would join the five full ICC members in the Asian T-20 World Cup in Bangladesh next year.
This event would start on February 24 and would continue till 6 March.
This is the sixth time for Bangladesh to host the Asian Cup matches.
