Afghanistan; the battlefield for hostile countries

01/08/2017

KABUL (SW): A complex attack on the embassy of Republic of Iraq in Kabul killed 2 employees of the embassy on Monday around noon.

In the 5 hours fight between the attackers and the Afghan security forces, two attackers were killed. Daesh claimed the responsibility of the complex attack on the Iraqi embassy in Kabul hours later.

Afghan analysts believe that the country has become a battlefield for the proxy wars of hostile countries. The analysts have called the Monday’s attack on the Iraqi embassy an example of proxy war.

Intizar Khadim, a political analyst, said that Afghanistan is not good in diplomacy and cannot prevent proxy wars.

Jawid Ghafori, another analyst, also said it falls on the capability of leaders of the government to convince world community to end proxy wars in Afghanistan.

But, Akbar Jan Folad, one of the other political analysts, blamed Pakistan as the main cause of proxy wars in Afghanistan. According to Folad, Daesh, unlike Iraq and Syria, does not exist in Afghanistan, but rather Punjabis are sent to Afghanistan by the Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) posing as Daesh. “It is the Afghan government’s duty to provide evidence and documents proving Pakistan’s new game to the world”, Added Folad.

Afghanistan has recently been the witness of increasing Daesh attacks. The recent attacks on Wazir Akbar Khan hospital and Iraqi embassy in Kabul have created concerns over the growing Daesh power in the country. However, there are some who believe that Daesh is virtually nonexistent in Afghanistan rather the Taliban alone have turned their flags from white to black.
