KABUL (SW): Oman is set to host another round of Quadrilateral Coordiantion Group (QCG) on Afghanistan next week.
Shakib Mustaghni, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), told Salam Watandar the QCG would follow-up the discussion on promises Pakistan made during previous sessions, but failed to comply with. He expressed optimism that Pakistan would move to comply with its previous commitments since many countries, particularly the U.S. is demanding serious actions from Pakistani against terrorism. Deputy Foreign Minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai would attend the QCG in Doha.
Ismael Qasimyar, director for international affairs at the High Peace Council (HPC), also expressed optimism in this regard. He said Mohammad Akram Khpalwak, secretary of the HPC, would attend the QCG in Doha next week.
Meanwhile, analysts are skeptical over Pakistan’s dual policy of saying one thing and acting against it.
Mohammad Hassan, an analyst on political affairs, argued that the Afghan conflict has an historic background, and such sittings alone cannot resolve it overnight. He, however, pronounced the QCG as an important platform.
The latest round of QCG comes after Pakistan’s Army Chief Gen. Qamdar Javed Bajwa visited Kabul and held meeting with the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
