Afghanistan rebuffs allegations made by Pakistan Army

KABUL (SW): Afghanistan on Saturday discarded allegations made by Pakistan Army in connection with a militant attack in Peshawar a day earlier that claimed the lives of 29 security personnel and 13 attackers.

Pronouncing the allegation as baseless, the Presidential Palace (Arg) said Afghanistan never allows its soil to be used against others. “Afghanistan is a victim of terrorism, knows the pain and agony of terrorist attacks and expresses condolences with the families of the victims”, the Arg said in a communiqué.

It added the Afghan government believes terrorism is the enemy of humanity and there is no ‘good’ or ‘bad’ terrorism. “Hence, all regional countries, particularly Afghanistan and Pakistan should sincerely strive to eradicate this menace”, the statement said.

Afghanistan once again urged Pakistan to jointly fight against all terrorists without any discrimination.

Earlier on Friday, Spokesman for the Pakistan Army pointed finger at Afghanistan for the Friday morning attack on Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Badaber camp in Peshawar that saw some 29 security men dead.Though, the Tehreek Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack but Pakistan Army Spokesman said the attack was planned in Afghanistan.

Commenting on the situation, Gen. Atiqullah Amarkhail, a security analyst, said Pakistan wanted to divert the attention of international community about Islamabad's interference in Afghanistan by levelling such allegations.

“In few days, the United Nation’s Security Council would meet, Pakistan wants to confuse international perception about its role in fuelling terrorism”, he told SW.
