Afghanistan ready to take on Zimbabwe on Thursday

KABUL (SW): The Afghanistan national cricket team is all set to take on seasoned Zimbabwean team for the first One Day International (ODI) of the bilateral series on Thursday.

The national team has been busy training for this series in Zimbabwe for a week now. The match would begin at 12 o’ clock noon Afghanistan time.  Afghanistan has been dominating the International Cricket Council (ICC)’s full member Zimbabwe for the past three years now. In the three series played between the two so far, Afghanistan has won two while one was a draw. In the 14 ODIs played between the two, Afghanistan has won eight while Zimbabwe managed to win six of them.

Afghan players also outshined their Zimbabwean counterparts in individual performances. Mohammad Nabi remains top scorer in these matches played between the two with 465 runs including a century. In the bowlers, Dawlat Zadran is on top with 24 wickets.

As per the schedule, second match of the series would be played on February 19, third one on the 21, third on the 24 and the last ODI on the 26 of this month.
