KABUL (SW): Authorities at the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MoAIL) have said Afghanistan has become self-sufficient in sheep meat supply.
Jahangir Miakhil, head of health and livestock services of the Ministry, talking in a press conference on Tuesday here said Afghanistan has become self-sufficient in sheep meat from the nomad tribes, and has not imported sheep meat since past one year. “The country has had some success in exporting sheep meat as well”, added Miakhil.
Ghulam Haidar, one of livestock traders present in the conference, demanded the government should provide veterinary services where livestock farms exist. At least 1320 veterinary clinics operate all over the country, officials said.
