KABUL (SW): Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced that talks are underway with full International Cricket Council (ICC) member states for international matches in the near future.
Informing the followers via the dedicated social media feed, the ACB has noted that these talks are at the initial stages and its outcome would only be made public after some progress. The Board has promised that soon cricket lovers would hear some good news about the national squad taking on well-known teams in the world.
This comes at a time when the ACB has been rigorously trying to arrange at least one bilateral series with an ICC full member. The International Cricket Council has provided the Afghanistan Cricket Board as well as Ireland with a fund of $ 500, 000.00 for their efforts to organize such a series and eventually lift their ranking for the forthcoming 2019 Cricket World Cup.
Ireland has managed to arrange for itself a series each with the ICC members Pakistan, South Africa, Australia, Sri Lanka and Associate Member Afghanistan. The ACB however, has only been successful to arrange a series each against Scotland and Ireland. Among the cricket playing nations, England, India, Australia, West Indies, Pakistan, South Africa and Zimbabwe have tight schedule ahead of them but others like Bangladesh and New Zealand seems free for at least two months to come and can be engaged for a series against Afghanistan.
