Afghanistan declines Pakistan’s demand to discuss bilateral ties

26/09/2015

KABUL(SW): Office of the Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah informed Salam Watandar that Afghanistan has declined this demand by Pakistan. CEO Abdullah Abdullah is representing Afghanistan at the General Assembly. Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif asked Abdullah for a meeting on the sidelines of the General Assembly but  Abdullah declined to meet. Sources told Salam Watandar that Afghan government has officially told Pakistan to either sincerely cooperate in the war against terrorism or face isolation in the international community. After a terrorist attack in Kabul’s Shah Shaheed area last month, the Afghan government blamed a terrorist group allegedly supported by the army and intelligence organizations of Pakistan. Similarly, Pakistan alleged that an attack on Pakistan Air Force base in Peshawar was planned in Afghanistan; a claim rejected by Afghanistan.

Sources told Salam Watandar that Pakistan wishes to divert the attention of international community and that was why the CEO rejected a call to meet Nawaz Sharif at the UN. CEO Abdullah would have meetings with the representatives of the U.S., Germany, U.K., Kuwait, Tajikistan, Iran, India, China, Russia and some other countries. A statement by the CEO office said Abdullah would also attend a gathering that would discuss ways to tackle terrorism, narcotics and Daesh in Afghanistan. He would also elaborate the Afghan government’s official stance in the General Assembly in regard to the emerging situation.
