DUSHANBE (SW): Afghanistan has cruised through both of its initial matches in the ongoing Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) under-15 Football championship in Tajikistan.
According to the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF), the national team defeated Kyrgyzstan 3-1 in its second match on Tuesday. Sameer Samandari scored the first goal in the 28th minute that gave an early edge to the Afghan squad. The lead was consolidated by Fardeen Nasiri in the 52nd and Ahmad Tamim in the 59th minute.
Afghanistan would take on Turkmenistan in its third match of the championship on Friday July 07. A victory in this match would ensure Afghanistan’s place in the semifinals. In its last league match, Afghanistan would face Uzbekistan on Saturday July 08. In its first match, Afghanistan’s U-15 team overpowered Tajikistan in a one-sided affair with a clear margin of 3-1.
Hosted by Tajikistan, teams from FIFA’s Central Asian zone including Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are taking part in this championship. Iran has decided not to take part. Three Afghan umpires with international credentials including Haleem Aqa, Yasin Rehmani and Shafiqullah are also supervising matches at this championship.
