ASADABAD (SW): A number of Afghan Border Police (ABP) men stationed in Kunar province have complaint about extreme shortages of supplies.
A number of soldiers, who wished not to be named in the report, told Salam Watandar that it has been some six months that they are on duty at border posts in Ghashi Kando area of the Murwarah district in Kunar province. They noted that their ration is almost finished and their way back to the provincial capital has been blocked.
One of the soldiers, who wished not to be named, told Salam Watandar that they are faced with a number of hardships including food and water shortages. He noted that for the time being, they have a small quantity of water and beans left.
These ABP men mentioned that they would face tougher situation if the authorities did not take immediate actions to provide them with additional arms, water and food supplies. The soldiers further noted that time and again they have asked both the local and central government officials to provide them with necessary supplies but to no avail.
Acknowledging this very fact, Wali Khan Shinwari, commander of the ABP 1-Corps, said in this regard that efforts are underway to resolve these issues. The ABP men in this part of the country have also urged upon the Afghan Air Force (AAF) to hit the hideouts of the militants here.
In response to their plea, Dowlat Waziri, the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said that consultations for air strikes in the area are underway.
