KABUL (SW) – Efforts are underway in full swing to revamp and modernize Afghan Post, officials said on Thursday.
Ahmad Waheed Wais, director AP, said tracking system for official documents has been established along with other up-gradation moves such as parcel lockers and installing other digital mechanisms at the postal service. He said the Afghan Post is now in good position to meet market demand and provide competent delivery services.
He said the Afghan Post is striving hard to provide best services with its network of 463 offices nationwide and partnership with some 25 international postal services.
The AP director further said the second round of modernization would begin this year. He added this would include introducing money transfer services, online trading services and online networking as well as up gradation of the provincial offices.
Speaking on the occasion, Shahzad Gul Aryubi, minister for the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, said the online connectivity between the postal offices is a major development. He said soon Afghan Post would provide cost-effective money transfer services.
