NEW YORK CITY- KABUL (SW): Hajar Abulfazl, former captain of women's national team, wins the ‘courageous use of sport award’ awarded by Beyond Sport Organization.
The prestigious award is given to those who have courageously challenged the status-quo to make a positive difference in communities around the world.
Hajar Abulfazl made her way to the women's national team in 2008 by taking part in an inter-school football tournament. She was selected as ‘Youth Delegate’ by United Nations in 2016.
The women's national team was formed in 2004 and officially launched in 2007. Currently, the team has more than 70 players divided into 3 teams under 3 age categories.
