LAHORE (SW): The national cycling team has won gold and a bronze medal during a competition in Pakistan.
According to the Afghanistan National Cycling Federation (ANCF), the competition was part of preparations for the forthcoming 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which is also counted as the 5th Asian Indoor Games to be held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan in 2017.
The ANCF informed these competitions were held in Lahore for two weeks. Six teams of men and women from Pakistan competed with the visiting squad from Afghanistan. The federation has expressed profound joy over winning a gold and a bronze medal, and has congratulated the players for their hard work.
The 2017 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games opening ceremony will take place on Sunday, 17 September 2017. The ceremony will be at the newly built Olympic Stadium in Ashgabat. All 45 member countries of the Olympic Council of Asia are invited to compete at these Games. The participating nations would compete in 21 disciplines.
Afghanistan would be represented by 189 players in 16 different sports. A total of six thousands athletes are likely to feature the games.
