KANDAHAR CITY (SW): Afghanistan Border Police (ABP) opened fire on Pakistani forces in Luqman village near SpinBoldak-Chaman crossing point in the early hours of Friday.
Security officials in Kandahar have said Pakistani forces tried to enter Afghan soil under pretext of census when Afghan forces opened fire.
Ghorzang Aafridi, deputy police chief of Kandahar province, has said two Pakistani military tanks are destroyed due to this skirmish and the fight is continuing.
Zia Durrani, provincial police deputy spokesman, said in this fight 3 ABP officers are wounded, but Pakistani casualties are unknown.
Aasif Ghafori, Pakistan’s military spokesman, acknowledged the incident in his official twitter account and said one civilian and 18 military including 4 Pakistan Border Police are injured.
According to Al Jazeera, the attack on Friday left 33 people wounded and happened near the Chaman crossing point in Pakistan's Balochistan province prompting security forces to ask people to evacuate villages on the border.
Eyewitnesses expressed that when the fight ensued the SpinkBoldak-Chaman crossing point closed for the passengers.
