KABUL (SW): Following selection camps inside and out of the country, the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) on Thursday announced the 24-member squad.
According to the AFF, the team would leave to take on Asian giant Japan and Thailand on 3rd and 8th September respectively.
Former Captain Islamuddin Amiri and eight other former national stars that left the team in protest have not be included in the new squad. Hameedullah Yousufzai and exceptional goalkeeper Mansoor Faqiryar have also been dropped.
Captain Jalaluddin Shariatyar, Mustafa Hadid, Syed Mohammad Hashmi, Hassan Amin, Zamir Dawoodi, Mustafa Zazai, Abasin Ali Khail, Faisal Shaista and Anosh Dastagir have managed to sercure their slots.
Similarly, Yousuf Sherdil and Sanjar Ahmadi have also managed to be named in the 24-memebr squad.
Other players include Hameedullah Wakili, Kawash Haidari, Fardin Kohistani, Awais Azizi, Faisal Sakhi Zada, Maseh Seghani, Sharif Mohammad, Ismat Shinwari, Nurullah Amiri, Arash Hatifi, Kanishka Tahir, Mustafa Azadzoy, Zubari Amiri, Shabir Yousufi, Khyber Armani, Mohammad Anwar Akbari and Fardin Hakimi.
The national squad is likely to begin training camp on August 20th in Kabul to prepare for the upcoming encounters. It is vital to note, the latest FIFA ranking has placed Afghanistan 134th in the world ranking. On Asian level, the country is on the 20th slot and in the Central Asia it has occupied the 3rd place.
