DAIKUNDI (SW) – A drug addict father has sold his minor girl for AFN 240,000 in Daikundi province.
The directorate of women affairs in the province has rescued the 11-year-old girl, Reza Gul, and moved her to a shelter home in Nili city. Zakia Rezaey, head of the directorate of women affairs, said the girl’s father, husband and father-in-law have been taken into custody.

The local civil society in Daikundi and Bamyan provinces has expressed concerns over identical incidents here generally involving addicted parents. Arif Muhibi, head of the civil society’s network here, said most of the minors traded by addicted parents are often exploited for hard labor or prostitution.
A while ago, an addicted father in Bamyan province sold his 12-year-old daughter.
