Abdullah’s team demands re-run of recount in 27 provinces

15/12/2019

KABUL (SW) – The Stability and Partnership team led by Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah has said the recount and audit process in the 27 provinces should be re-run.

Fareedun Khwazoon, spokesman for the team, told Salam Watandar that the process was previously boycotted by observers of this team hence it is not acceptable to them. According to him, if the election commission fails to do so, there will be a deadlock.

However, Abdul Aziz Ebrahimi, a spokesman for the Independent Election Commission, said the recount was conducted in 27 provinces with observers from some election teams and other independent election observation bodies, and preliminary results would be announced when the recount is completed in the remaining 7 provinces.

The recount process began in 7 provinces today and is expected to be completed in two days.
