KABUL (SW) – A source close to Abdullah Abdullah – self-proclaimed ‘president of the inclusive government’ is set to nominate at least ten provincial governors.
According to the source, a Junbish party leader, Gen. Kher Mohammad Taimur would soon occupy the position as governor of Takhar province. Similarly, an appointment for the governorship of Badakhshan is also on the cards.
This comes as the U.S. special representative for Afghanistan reconciliation, Zalmay Khalilzad failed to resolve the lingering electoral rift between President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah.
Abdullah’s camp has already nominated governors for Sar-e-Pul, Jawzjan and Baghlan province while governor of Panjshir province.
Meanwhile, in a statement, Abdullah announced on Wednesday that he, as ‘President of the Inclusive Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan’ would soon nominate his own Chief Executive soon. “Till then, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani – ‘former president of the National Unity Government’ is no more the president”, he vowed.
